Underage Drinking- Bad or Wrong?
Published by admin on April 9, 2010So, I recently attended a Halloween party with my brother. Our sister invited us to her friends party. So, out of boredom, we went there. I’m only 17, my brother is 18, and my sister 31. She plays abit of beer pong with her husband and their friends. Later, they break out the beer bottles for the yankees game and a round of poker in which my brother also "competed". He sucks at poker so he loses $30 dollars that night… underage gambling??? Anywho, during this period, the host of the party, having at least 10 beers himself by now, in a way, hands my brother what he calls "a man’s drink" implying the bottle of beer. Don’t forget, my brother is 18. So, my brother takes the beer and intakes the bottle. I am a bit disrupted? by his action and stay quiet. Later on, after i make it aware to my mother what my brother has done (now for those who are going to reply saying mommas boy or it’s none of your business, i know you’re out there, it is my god damn business because 1) he was driving and 2)he was driving ME home and 3) HE’S 18). She argues with him telling him that it was wrong. My brother brings up the idea that for 18 years my parents have been brain washing him with "religion", but we tell him it has nothing to do with it. He’s underage. He just says that the only reason people under 21 aren’t allowed to drink is because their sense of judgement isn’t fully developed and says that he has perfect judgement. In my opinion, if someone can make a remark like that about themselves, there are many issues he/she has to work out at that age. Also, he’s not become an athiest so… he thinks his eyes are for the first time fully open to the world and understanding…
Anyways, my question is, 1) Do you think it was a bad idea to drink the beer at 18 years old 2) If yes or no, why? 3) Do you think not believing in a religion makes your comprehension of the world better? Religion is ones self-belief, not bars that hold you down.
Also, when replying, keep in mind the number of accidents that occure because of drunk drivers. One beer might not do it, but next time, it becomes 2, then 3, then 4, etc.. and soon enough, he’s in the same league as the alchohal abusers. If he was 21, i could care less but being 18… just isn’t right in my opinion. Anyways, thanks for any replies.
No, It’s not bad to drink once in a while at age 18, You can vote join the military, You are an adult, BUT FOR GOD AND OUR OWN SAKE< PLEASE DON’T DRINK AND DRIVE< IT KILLS….
